What exactly does "retail spend" or "retail transactions" mean on credit card promotional adverts?

Is it transactions (chip/swipe/tap) at the physical shop, and doesn't allow online transactions?

I believe retail spend and retail transactions are referring to the same thing. Here's an example of retail transactions by OCBC:

Also, retail spend / retail transactions =/= offline spendings. Most credit cards covers both offline and online.

Perhaps you can state the specific credit cards that you are enquiring about for more definite answers
