I wanted to know if the "up to 21% savings at FairPrice" headline was actually real or just a best-case number nobody hits, so I tracked my own spending for a month. Sharing the breakdown here since most Trust Link posts just repeat the marketing line without showing what it looks like in practice.
My starting point
I do a weekly FairPrice run (roughly S$80–120), fill up at Caltex twice a month (roughly S$70 each time), and occasionally grab something from Unity or Cheers. Nothing exotic — just normal household spending.
Where the savings actually came from
Groceries at FairPrice Group stores: this is where the 21% ceiling lives, though it depends on your NTUC Union membership status and spend tier — non-members get a lower rate. I'm not a Union member currently, and my actual realised rate landed meaningfully below that 21% headline, which matched my expectations going in — the top rate needs specific conditions I wasn't hitting.
Fuel at Caltex: a flat percentage off, separate from the grocery mechanic, and this one didn't require any tier-climbing — it just applied.
Everything else (Grab, random online purchases): earned nothing special here since Trust Link's standout rates are specifically FairPrice Group and Caltex — outside those, you're not getting the headline percentages.
The honest verdict
If your grocery spend is genuinely concentrated at FairPrice, Unity, and Cheers, and especially if you're an NTUC Union member, this card's savings are real and add up faster than a generic 1.5% flat cashback card would. If your groceries are split across Cold Storage, Sheng Siong, wet markets, or you barely shop FairPrice at all, you're leaving most of this card's value on the table and a flat cashback card (like Trust's own Freedom Card) would likely serve you better.
What else came with the card that I didn't expect to use as much
The sign-up gift, if you're new
New Trust Link/credit card customers currently get a sure-win cashback gift of up to S$8,000, live until 31 Oct 2026 — no minimum spend required to trigger it, just an approved application.
If you're an NTUC Union member specifically
This is where the card's ceiling actually gets within reach. Union membership unlocks the higher-tier savings rate on both the FairPrice grocery mechanic and card spend bonuses on the savings account side, so if you're already a member, the math shifts noticeably in this card's favour compared to what a non-member like me experienced.

If anyone's a Union member and has real numbers on what the 21% actually nets out to monthly, I'd genuinely like to compare notes — feels like the number that gets quoted most and explained least.
