Trust Bank Savings Account Referral Code 2GG9T8K3: Flex vs Signature vs Zen — Which Plan Actually Fits You

Trust quietly restructured their savings account into three separate plans, and if you signed up years ago you might still be sitting on the old default without realising there's a better fit available. Here's a decision tree rather than another rate table, because the "right" plan genuinely depends on your habits, not just the headline percentage.

Start by asking: how much effort do you want to put in each month?

→ Zero effort, don't want to think about it at allPick the Zen plan. Flat 0.40% p.a., no conditions, no strings, no monthly checklist. It's the lowest ceiling of the three, but it's also the only one where your rate never depends on remembering to do anything.

→ Some effort, want a simple default without tracking eight variablesPick the Signature plan. Up to 1.00% p.a., built around three fairly natural triggers: crediting your salary via GIRO (+0.45% p.a.), keeping a S$100k average daily balance (+0.30% p.a.), and making five card spends of S$30+ (+0.20% p.a. for Union members, +0.10% otherwise). This is also what you default into automatically if you never pick a plan.

→ Actively optimising, willing to check the app monthlyPick the Flex plan. Up to 2.40% p.a., and you choose any 3 of 8 available bonus "scoops" each month. This is where it gets interesting.

The 8 Flex plan scoops, ranked by how easy they are to hit

Easiest to unlock, roughly in order:

  1. Receive S$1,500 total incoming PayNow (+0.15% p.a.) — passive if you're already getting paid via PayNow for anything
  2. Spend S$500 in foreign currency (+0.15% p.a.) — easy if you travel or shop overseas even occasionally
  3. Make 5 card spends of S$30+ (+0.20% p.a. Union members, +0.10% otherwise) — low bar if you use the card at all
  4. Credit S$1,500 salary via GIRO specifically (+0.45% p.a.) — note it must be GIRO, not FAST, or it won't count
  5. Increase your ADB by S$3k from last month (+0.20% p.a.) — good if you're actively saving more each month
  6. Keep S$100k average daily balance (+0.30% p.a.) — only relevant once your balance is substantial
  7. Invest S$20k in eligible TrustInvest funds (+0.70% p.a.) — the second-biggest scoop, but ties up S$20k in something not SDIC-insured
  8. Refer a new credit card customer who gets approved that month (+1.20% p.a.) — the single biggest scoop by far, and the one most people forget exists

Why that last scoop changes the math entirely

If you're on Flex and you refer even one friend who signs up for a Trust credit card and gets approved within the same calendar month, you unlock +1.20% p.a. for that month — more than double the next-biggest scoop. Combine that with two of the easier scoops (say, PayNow + foreign spend) and you're stacking toward the 2.40% ceiling from referrals most people are doing anyway, not from locking up S$100k or S$20k.

A practical example

Base 0.05% + Referral scoop 1.20% + PayNow scoop 0.15% + FX spend scoop 0.15% = 1.55% p.a. for that month, achieved mostly by things that happen naturally if you're already active on the app — plus one successful referral.

How to get started

  1. Download the Trust Bank SG app
  2. Enter referral code 2GG9T8K3 at the first "Get Started" screen
  3. Apply for the Savings Account (and a credit card too, if you want to be eligible to unlock that referral scoop yourself later)
  4. Once your account is open, switch to Flex plan under account settings if you want to start choosing your own scoops — you can change plans every month

Curious which scoop combination others are actually running on Flex — I suspect most people default to Signature without realising Flex could net them more for roughly the same effort.
