I will borrow words from Warren Buffet.
I personally do not see gold as a form of investment. Instead, gold is a form of capital preservation. Gold stores values. To give you an example, you used to pay $2 for chicken rice (2000s). Now. the average price of chicken rice is $3.50. More money is need to buy 1oz of gold.
Why?
gold is bought to hedge against inflation
Gold doesn't generate revenue. It just simply get more expensive because the fiat currency is becoming less valuable.
So,
Buy gold if you want to hedge against inflation and fiat currency will continue to be devalued. No one is sure what is the pricing in the long run
(you can take a look at the chart commented by Yj)
