How many different investment products are too many?

Realised recently that my portfolio was getting a bit “too diversified” 😂

Between ETFs, individual stocks, SRS investments, CPF and a few other products, I sometimes wonder if I’m actually diversified or just making my own life more complicated...

How many different investments do you think is enough?

If there are many overlaps across the different assets, then it is not diversifying.

if bought just because of certain hype (eg recent gold and Sg equities hype) then also not diversifying, but more like tactical short term boost.

For me, if I can’t easily explain what each investment is doing in my portfolio, I probably have too many already
