Cancer has this marker which if you do not relapse after 5 years, you are considered as a new case. So after 5 years, you can buy, but your loading may be very very high. If you were a stage 2 thyroid, maybe not so bad, stage 3 your loading would be high and might not be worth it anymore.

Insurance is friend to the clean fella but once you have something, they try to keep you out. Your only bet is any government insurance because they will definitely take you but again with a certain loading.

I totally get where you're coming from. I actually came across an article on Integrated Shield Plans that might help with your situation. If you're still in your late 20s, that could work in your favor. It's definitely worth checking with a few insurers to see if they'll offer you coverage after that 3-year mark.
